What is Cappadocia?

Cappadocia is located in the center of Turkey which is called as Anatolia.Cappadocia was registered list of UNESCO World Heritage in 1985.It is so famous place because of amazing landscape.
Cappadocia name used first time by the Persian as Katpatuka which means "the land of the beatifull horses".Hitite people also used the breed the horses in this region.
Hitites were the first civilization ;1800 b.c 1200 b.c Then Thabals ,Asyrian Persians lived .Than Romans controlled this rocky land.Cappadocia was a refuge and a shelter for early christians during the Roman and Byzantine period.Than region becomes an important christian teaching center.So that locals carved out over 300 cave churches and 30 underground cities.Untill 1924 local christians and the Turks were living in this area together in the harmony atmospher.

Goreme; is small town, located among the fairy chimneys.Some people still live in the
cave houses.Hiking around and in Goreme is good way to get Cappadocia.The most convenient town to explore Cappadocia. Goreme is well known with its cave hotels.

Urgup;The most developed town in the area.Population is around 11.000 . Urgup has
many big hotels.

Avanos;Only town have enough water in the dry region.The longest river of Turkey pass from the mid of the town.Avanos is also famous for pottery work shops.

Uchisar;The higgest place of Cappadocia .There is a rock monumental castle in this town.

Nevsehir;Provincial capital of Cappadocia.The biggest city of the area.
